The Nissan New Mobility Concept is an ultra-compact 100% electric vehicle that was developed in response to rising numbers of senior citizens and single-member households, along with increasing use of automobiles for short-distance trips by up to two people.

Nissan works together with Japanese local bodies, corporations and other groups to carry out activities like these with the objective of finding new uses for EVs, as well as to improve traffic flows and to consider alternative visions for the communities of tomorrow.

Q&A

Q: Where can I buy the vehicle?
A: The vehicle is not on sale for now. Since the current Road Trucking Vehicle Law in Japan bans this vehicle from running on public roads, its test runs in Japan are being conducted with the special permission from MLIT under the scheme of allowing experiments of ultra-compact mobility. Whether the vehicle will be released for sale or not is still unknown.

Q: If the vehicle were to be released for sale, how much would the selling price be?
A: It remains unknown for now.

Q: How long is the vehicle's minimum turning radius?
A: It's 3.4 meters.

Q: Can the vehicle be parked in a coin-operated car park, multi-story parking structure or metered parking lot?
A: Theoretically, yes. Trials to make sure the compatibility (with the flaps, gates, etc.) are currently underway in the aforementioned experiment-permission scheme.

Q: Does the vehicle have doors or windows?
A: It has no windows; therefore the cabin is not completely closed.

Q: Wouldn't the vehicle get wet inside in rain?
A: Since the doors do not completely close the cabin, rain could get inside the cabin if windy.

Q: The vehicle is said not to be allowed to run on a public road because it's over the spec of the already-defined motorized two-wheeled vehicle therefore no existing vehicle category to apply. What exactly is over the spec?
A: Under the Road Traffic Act, vehicles that are categorized as the Class-1 Motorized Four-wheeled Bicycle are stipulated to have the rated output of "0.6kW or less" and to be a single-seater. This model’s rated output is 8kW and two-seater (front-back).

Q: Can the vehicle be recharged by using a quick charger?
A: While quick charging is not available for this vehicle, it can be recharged whenever and as much as you need by using the attached charging cable and a 200V outlet for normal charging.

Q: Can a car seat be installed to the vehicle?
A: A car seat for babies or infants can't be installed to the vehicle's passenger seat. Children aged 6 or above can ride on the passenger seat. However, if the seat belt can't be fastened properly or it's placed over the children's neck, please use a booster seat recommended by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation.
