All-new Nissan Pathfinder and Frontier double up as 2022 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards winners

All New Pathfinder and Frontier Double Up as 2022 Motorweek Drivers' Choice Awards Winners

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The all-new Nissan Pathfinder and Nissan Frontier have been named to the winners’ list for the 2022 MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice. Pathfinder was honored as the “Best Midsize Utility” and Frontier topped the “Best Midsize Truck” category. The annual Drivers’ Choice Awards “look at new cars and trucks from a buyer’s point of view,” with an emphasis on consumer value and reliability.

“After successful back-to-back fall launches of these two all-new, redesigned core Nissan models, it’s exciting to be rewarded with a pair of prestigious MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Awards,” said Jared Haslam, vice president, Product and Services Planning, Nissan U.S. and Canada.

The 2022 Pathfinder is all-new from the ground up. It offers rugged capability, family-focused versatility and connectivity to both the road and the world around you. With an all-new design inspired by the original 1987 Pathfinder, the exterior combines reimagined proportions with truck-like brawn. The interior provides seating for up to eight passengers – the first time ever for Pathfinder – and more space and comfort for the family.

“We have always been Nissan Pathfinder fans. While not always the flashiest of SUVs, the nameplate excels in delivering what family buyers need: a practical, durable, attractive, well-thought-out utility. The new Pathfinder takes all of that up, more than a notch, and was an easy choice as our MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice Best Midsize Utility for 2022,” said John H. Davis, host and creator of MotorWeek.

The all-new 2022 Frontier features a standard best-in-class1 310-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 and maximum 6,720-pound towing capacity (when properly equipped). It builds on Nissan’s six-plus decades of mid-size truck leadership with a bold new exterior, adventure-oriented interior and Nissan’s latest driver assistance and connectivity technologies. Along with its powerful new exterior, Frontier features an available, largest-in-class 9-inch color touchscreen display2 with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ standard on all models.

“We selected the redesigned Nissan Frontier as our Best Midsize Truck for lots of reasons, including its standard V6 powertrain, new hydraulic body mounts, over 6000-pound tow rating, and totally updated yet business-like interior. But, we also like all the things that haven’t changed, such as the still rugged and now beefed-up frame and suspension. Nissan has done a great job of modernizing and toughening up the Frontier without changing its overall character or doing anything to alienate current fans,” added Davis.

MotorWeek is television’s longest running automotive series. It debuted in 1981 and launched a new television genre by becoming the first weekly series to offer consumer-oriented car and truck reviews, do-it-yourself car care tips, and the latest auto industry news. It is produced by Maryland Public Television.
