Nissan partners with Habitat for Humanity to dedicate two homes in Davidson and Rutherford Counties

To kick start a great summer, Habitat for Humanity and Nissan dedicated new home builds in both Davidson and Rutherford Counties in Tennessee. These were meaningful dedications because for the Rutherford County build, it was the first year since the COVID pandemic began, that Nissan employees have been able to volunteer for a build. It was certainly a time to remember for Alice and Wayne Elton (new homeowners in Rutherford County) and Erica Smikes (new homeowner in Davidson County) who were surrounded by loved ones, the Habitat for Humanity support team and Nissan employees on their day of celebration.

At the Davidson County Key Ceremony, Habitat for Humanity and ten new homeowners celebrated the dedication of the very first townhome community, Sherwood Commons. One homeowner noted that the sponsors and volunteers were the heartbeat of the organization and project. She added as she closed her comments after talking about her experience with Habitat for Humanity; "You all are amazing. Thank you because you all were kind and professional and truly prepared us for homeownership."

"Each home is special and each time it feels like the very first time," Lauren Lane Payne, senior vice president of philanthropy, Habitat for Humanity remarked. "While many parts make up this equation, we couldn’t do it without our sponsors. Those sponsors have contributed to over 297 home builds in Nashville and to the 41 that have supported this particular project, thank you."

For nearly 20 years, Nissan has partnered with Habitat for Humanity to make a difference in the local communities where Nissan has an operational presence. Across the country, Nissan employees have logged more than 110,000 volunteer hours while the organization has contributed more than 19 million dollars and donated over 150 vehicles. The greatest part, though, is Nissan employees working alongside building relationships with the wonderful individuals who get to realize their dream of home ownership through the amazing and longstanding partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
