The Datsun Sports Roadster (called Datsun Fairlady in Japan), was the second in a series of roadsters produced by Nissan from 1960-70. The 311 series was a predecessor to the Z-car in the Fairlady line, and offered an inexpensive and reliable alternative to British sports cars of the day. The new R16-powered SP311 featured 14" wheels and independent front suspension as well as side draft dual SU carburetors.
This 1970 car is a very late example of the 311 Roadster lineage. Datsun Fairlady Roadsters are gaining in market value, with pristine examples bringing more than $50,000 at auction and some well maintained drivers commanding $20,000 and up.
