2027 Rogue Hybrid: 3 features that make it the most refined Rogue yet

Countless hours of development created a 2027 Rogue Hybrid that is comfortable, quieter and filled with easy-to-use tech

When Nissan engineers were developing the 2027 Rogue Hybrid1, they were determined to stand out in the hypercompetitive crossover SUV segment – the most popular vehicle class in the U.S.2 The 2027 Rogue Hybrid does just that, with a hushed cabin, intuitive technology and abundant features aimed at enhancing comfort.

A quest for quietness

Just how quiet is the 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid?

Stepping inside, drivers will notice soft materials, famously comfortable Zero Gravity seats and spaciousness – with more front head room than any hybrid in its class3. What’s equally important is what they won't notice: obtrusive outside noise – whether standing still or on the freeway.

"One of our top priorities was creating a super comfortable driving environment, and that starts with a quiet cabin," said Derek Johnson, a research and development engineer based at Nissan Technical Center North America in Farmington Hills, Mich. "It's easy to have a normal conversation with passengers in both rows, even on the interstate."

Engineers carefully placed sound-deadening materials in areas susceptible to road noise, such as the wheel wells. Rogue Hybrid’s exterior was precisely shaped to reduce wind noise through elements like concealed wipers, door-mounted side mirrors and slim roof rails. The team didn’t stop there; even the available ventilated front seats were developed with quietness in mind – they feature a new design that reduces noise.

Smooth Stop offers limo-like finesse

The best chauffeurs are taught how to stop a vehicle without disturbing passengers. Often called a "limo stop," this technique involves gently reducing braking pressure as a vehicle comes to a stop. The 2027 Rogue Hybrid features a technology that does this automatically: first-in-class Smooth Stop5. Just press the brake pedal and hold it there, and Smooth Stop figures out the rest – there is no need to modulate pressure.

"You'll notice far less of that jerking motion you might be used to when coming to a stop," Johnson said. "It’s super comfortable, gentle and great for new drivers.”

And with class-exclusive e‑Pedal6, the driver doesn't need to touch the brake pedal at all in certain driving conditions. They can simply use the accelerator pedal to accelerate and decelerate, helping make traffic jams less tiring.

"It's a good example of Nissan's mission to make Rogue Hybrid comfortable and refined," Johnson said.

Intuitive tech, including the latest version of ProPILOT Assist

The 2027 Rogue Hybrid is filled with technology that is simple to use and understand, including available dual 14.3-inch displays, standard Apple CarPlay7 and Android Auto, a class-exclusive standard Qi2 wireless charger and a suite of standard safety technologies.

"While it was important to offer the latest innovations, ease of use was a huge priority in developing this vehicle," Johnson said. "We want people to use the tech, so it's important to make it intuitive."

All 2027 Rogue Hybrid models include the latest generation of ProPILOT Assist8, Nissan's semi-autonomous driver assistance system. The standard system includes the capability to follow the flow of traffic and assist with steering while the driver keeps their hands on the wheel.

Engineers wanted the new version of ProPILOT Assist to act more like a normal human would when driving. To achieve this, they spent countless hours driving in the real world developing the system.

Many of their test routes were in California, where notoriously heavy traffic jams, winding mountain roads and a wide variety of conditions helped the team refine the ProPILOT Assist software.

Combined with hardware improvements – like a front camera with a 20% wider field of view – ProPILOT Assist's object detection distance is up to 33% farther, which translates to being able to respond up to two seconds faster at 70 miles per hour.

"It speeds up and slows down more smoothly and stays more centered in the lane," Johnson explained. "It also works on a wider variety of roads, so it’ll stay active in a greater range of conditions, like wider-than-usual lanes."

Plus, the digital dashboard display (also known as the meter) has new graphics which are clean, crisp and easy to understand at a glance.

The Rogue Hybrid's digital dashboard features new graphics, which show the locations of nearby vehicles when ProPILOT Assist is active. It also shows the vehicle Rogue Hybrid is following in traffic.

What is ProPILOT Assist with Hands-off Traffic Jam Support?

Perhaps the most exciting technology is available ProPILOT Assist with Hands-Off Traffic Jam Support.

Available on Rogue Hybrid SR and standard on Platinum, ProPILOT Assist with Hands-Off Traffic Jam Support elevates the standard system by allowing hands-off driving at speeds under 30 miles per hour. At higher speeds, it offers automatic lane changes on the highway.

"It can make even the most tedious commutes a breeze," Johnson said.

Once activated, the system will help keep Rogue Hybrid in its lane and keep up with the flow of traffic without the driver needing to touch the steering wheel, brake pedal or accelerator pedal.

At highway speeds with the system active, the driver can simply tap the turn signal once, and the vehicle will automatically change lanes with the driver’s hands on the wheel. The system monitors traffic and initiates a lane change when it detects there is space to do so.

"This is a huge help on road trips – it makes passing slower traffic easy," Johnson said.

By simply tapping the turn signal stalk, ProPILOT Assist can automatically change lanes.

Together, those enhancements give Rogue Hybrid a level of comfort and polish that will delight drivers on every trip.

"We put a lot of thought into the all-new Rogue Hybrid," Johnson said. "From making it quiet, giving it our most human-like version of ProPILOT Assist, and touches like Smooth Stop, it’s the most refined Rogue ever."
