Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for April, 2011.
1. Production
Nissan's global production in April decreased 22.4% year-on-year to 248,024 units, due to effects of the earthquake on March 11.
Production in Japan decreased 48.7% year-on-year to 44,193 units.
Production outside of Japan decreased 12.7% year-on-year to 203,831 units.
In the U.S., production decreased 33.2% year-on-year to 29,708 units.
In Mexico, production decreased 29.8% year-on-year to 26,281 units.
In the U.K., production decreased 12.8% year-on-year to 28,818 units.
In Spain, production increased 19.0% year-on-year to 9,999 units, mainly due to increased demand for Primastar and NV200.
In China, production decreased 14.8% year-on-year to 78,244 units, despite increased demand for the new Sunny.
Production in other regions increased 68.1% year-on-year to 30,781 units, due to increased demand for March/Micra in Thailand, India and Indonesia.
2. Sales
Global sales increased 4.4% year-on-year to 320,631 units, marking an all-time record for the month of April.
Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 24,068 units in Japan, down 37.5% year-on-year, due to effects of the earthquake on March 11.
In Japan, vehicle registrations in April decreased 37.2% year-on-year to 17,411 units.
Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were down 38.1% from the previous year to 6,657 units.
Sales outside of Japan increased 10.4% year-on-year to 296,563 units, marking an all-time record for the month of April.
Sales in the U.S. increased 12.2% year-on-year to 71,526 units, due to increased demand for Altima, Rogue and Sentra.
In Europe, sales increased 21.4% year-on-year to 53,840 units, due to sales recovery in Russia and increased demand for Juke and Qashqai.
In China, sales saw an increase of 5.0% year-on-year to 94,971 units, due to increased demand for the new Sunny launched in January and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for the month of April.
Sales in other regions increased 7.6% year-on-year to 52,205 units, mainly due to increased demand in Thailand, Indonesia and India, where the new March/Micra was launched, and favorable sales in Brazil and Argentina.
3. Japan Exports
Nissan's exports in April decreased 72.0% year-on-year to 14,642 units, due to effects of the earthquake on March 11.
Exports to North America decreased 75.0% year-on-year to 6,827 units.
Exports to Europe decreased 14.7% year-on-year to 4,807 units.
