NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan's Decherd Powertrain Plant reached a major milestone with the assembly of its 20 millionth engine, a VQ-ZV9 V-6 for Nissan Frontier, marking nearly three decades of manufacturing excellence and commitment to the Tennessee and Franklin County communities.
Opened in 1997, the Decherd facility is one of Nissan's longest‑running U.S. manufacturing facilities and a key powertrain hub supporting vehicles assembled across North America. Nissan has invested $2 billion in the plant as part of a broader $14 billion investment in U.S. manufacturing, underscoring its focus on American production and workforce development.
"Reaching 20 million engines is a testament to the skill, dedication and craftsmanship of our Decherd team," said David Sliger, vice president, Regional Powertrain Operations, Nissan Americas. "This milestone goes beyond production. It reflects generations of knowledge, shared pride and trust that make Decherd a powerful part of Nissan's operations today and for the future."
The achievement highlights the pride and dedication of the Decherd team, many of whom have spent their careers at the plant. With generations of families contributing to its success, the milestone represents a shared legacy rooted in people and community.
A cornerstone of the local economy, the Decherd plant supports the region through direct and indirect job creation and reinforces the importance of the U.S. to Nissan's global operations. Continued investment in Tennessee reflects Nissan's commitment to assembling vehicles where they are sold.
