NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Nissan Altima is the midsize sedan for drivers seeking a connected, confident and dynamic experience.
Altima gives customers a diverse choice of configurations, offering two available engines, and a choice between front-wheel or Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. The 2024 model range consists of eight well-equipped grades: S FWD, SV FWD, SV AWD, SR FWD, SR AWD, SL FWD, SL AWD and SR VC-Turbo FWD.
Following a comprehensive makeover for the 2023 model year, the 2024 Nissan Altima is on sale now with a starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)4 of $26,370. (See full pricing details for all 2024 Altima grades.)
Two powerful, efficient powertrains
Altima is available with two engines that deliver responsive performance. The standard, advanced 2.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder direct-injection engine is rated at 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque for front-wheel-drive models, or 182 hp and 178 lb-ft in versions equipped with AWD.
The engine is optimized for efficiency and delivers EPA fuel economy ratings5 of up to 27 mpg city, 39 mpg highway and 32 mpg combined for the front-wheel drive S and SV models; 27 mpg city, 37 mpg highway and 31 mpg combined for front-wheel drive SR and SL models.
Also available is a class-exclusive Variable Compression Turbo (VC-Turbo) engine6. The most tech-advanced engine in Altima's class7, the VC-Turbo delivers performance comparable to V6 gasoline engines but with fuel economy closer to that of 4-cylinder models. Using a combination of multi-point and direct-injection, and an innovative multi-link crank system able to seamlessly change its compression ratio, the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivers 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque (when using 93 octane fuel). At the same time as offering this striking performance, Altima SR VC-Turbo is rated for EPA fuel economy of up to 34 mpg highway.
Smoothly optimizing power delivery and efficiency for both engines is a standard Xtronic transmission. Paddle shifters on Altima SR allow enthusiastic owners to further engage with the driving experience.
Advanced driver assistance and intuitive technology
A standout Altima technology for more relaxed highway driving is ProPILOT Assist1. Standard on Altima SL and SR VC-Turbo and optional on SV, ProPILOT Assist blends steering assistance with Intelligent Cruise Control, helping the driver stay in the center of the driving lane while maintaining a preset speed and preset distance to the preceding vehicle. ProPILOT Assist can also slow the vehicle to a complete stop and hold the vehicle during traffic jam conditions.
Altima's intuitive yet powerful infotainment systems keep the driver connected and informed. Altima SV and higher have a standard 7-inch Advanced Drive-Assist® Display8 providing key vehicle information in the driver's eyeline. An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system (Altima SV and higher) features Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay® and SiriusXM® (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately).
An available 12.3-inch HD color display with multi-touch control (standard on Altima SL and SR VC-Turbo, optional on SV and SR) upgrades to wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Nissan Door-to-Door Navigation system, a wireless phone charging pad and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The system features crisp, high-resolution graphics and a customizable home screen with shortcuts to user favorites and one-line destination search.
For 2024, available NissanConnect® Services now includes a three-year trial (up from a six-month trial previously). The telematics feature is standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo and optional on SV and SR (late availability), and works with the MyNISSAN smartphone app. On equipped vehicles, features include remote door lock/unlock, remote engine start/stop, vehicle health report, emergency calling and Nissan Skill for Amazon Alexa®9.
Altima also has an available Bose® Premium Audio system with nine speakers, available Active Noise Cancellation, plus Amazon Alexa to help customers simplify and organize their lives using just voice commands.
Confidence and peace of mind
Intelligent All-Wheel Drive2 helps Altima provide added traction and driver confidence on varying road surfaces and through varying weather conditions. Available on SV, SR and SL grades with the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, the system automatically distributes engine torque to the wheels according to driving conditions – ranging from a 100/0 front/rear split to up to 50/50.
Nissan Safety Shield® 360 provides further reassurance. Standard on all Altima grades, it includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and High Beam Assist. Also standard on all grades is class-exclusive Intelligent Forward Collision Warning10 and Intelligent Driver Alertness11.
Altima SL and SR VC-Turbo add two additional technologies. Class-exclusive Intelligent Around View® Monitor12 provides a 360-degree camera view around the vehicle, ideal for maneuvering at low speeds, while Traffic Sign Recognition13 can detect certain road signs and display them in the vehicle's instrument cluster.
