At a Glance: 2018.5 Nissan Rogue Sport

The Nissan Rogue Sport, which joined the Nissan crossover and SUV lineup near the end of the 2017 model year, entered 2018 with just a few refinements to its optional package naming and content. Now, midway through the year comes additional changes to key model and package content:

• The addition of standard Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) for all grades
• Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) added as standard on SL grade
• Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) added to the optional SV Technology Package
• And, the front grille recieves a minor redesign to accommodate the radar/front camera utilized for Around View® Monitor, AEB and ICC systems

As before, the SV Technology Package (previously named the SV Premium Package) includes the contents of the previous SV All-Weather Package, including Quick Comfort® heated driver's and front passenger seats, Remote Engine Start System with Intelligent Climate Control, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, fog lights, leather-wrapped shift knob and heated outside mirrors – plus Intelligent Cruise Control.

The SL Premium Package now includes the content of the previous SL Platinum Package – including Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Intelligent Lane Intervention (I-LI), and Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, along with power sliding moonroof, LED low and high beam headlights and High Beam Assist.  

Again in 2018, Rogue Sport shares many of the design, utility and technology attributes that have made Rogue Nissan's best-selling vehicle in the United States. Rogue Sport is slightly smaller, sportier and more affordable for younger, urban SUV buyers than Rogue. These buyers are looking for much more space than a compact sedan, while still seeking the manueverability and fun-to-drive feel that Rogue Sport delivers.

The exterior of the Rogue Sport features a distinctive "emotional geometry" design that combines a progressive, compact body with powerful fender volume and an aggressive, wheel-oriented stance that conveys a feeling of robust agility. In front, the V-motion grille is surrounded by signature Nissan lighting features, including LED Daytime Running Lights, available LED low-beam headlights with High Beam Assist (HBA) and available fog lights.

The rear is highlighted by signature boomerang LED taillights and integrated roof spoiler. Other exterior features include available power sliding moonroof and body-color heated outside mirrors with integrated turn signals.

Inside, Rogue Sport provides a comfortable, roomy environment with seating for five and up to 22.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the 2nd row seat (up to 61.1 cu. ft. with 2nd row seat folded down). The interior layout follows Nissan's "Gliding Wing" design, which projects the sense of an open "wingspan" spreading outward. The result is a spatial symmetry with a sense of togetherness. The premium appearance features two interior colors and available Piano Black finishers with chrome accents.

Among the available comfort and convenience features found in the 2018.5 Rogue Sport are leather-appointed seating, leather-wrapped heated steering wheel and leather-booted shift knob, heated front seats, SiriusXM® Satellite Radio (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately) and available Divide-N-Hide® Cargo System that creates a flat cargo area with the 2nd row seat folded down. When more space is needed for carrying taller or bulkier items, lowering the floor board creates a deeper cargo well.

Available technology includes RearView Monitor, Siri® Eyes Free, NissanConnectSM with Navigation and Mobile Apps, 7.0-inch color touch-screen display, Nissan Voice Recognition for navigation and audio, SiriusXM® Travel Link and SiriusXM® Traffic (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately), NissanConnect Services powered by SiriusXM® (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately), USB connection port for iPod® interface and other compatible devices, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, Hands-free Text Messaging Assistant, Streaming audio via Bluetooth® and Remote Engine Start¹.
Also available is the advanced Intelligent Around View® Monitor (I-AVM) and Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC).

As fitting of the Rogue Sport name, its fun-to-drive performance credentials are achieved by a combination of a 141-horsepower 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cylinder engine, Xtronic transmission with Eco Mode switch and a 4-wheel independent suspension. The engine features Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG^TM), Twin CVTC (Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control) on both intake and exhaust, DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coated valve lifters, TCV (Tumble Control Valve) and an 11.2:1 compression ratio.

Also standard are Electric Power-assisted Steering (EPS) with Sport mode, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and 4-wheel disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).

Rogue Sport also offers a comprehensive suite of Nissan Intelligent Safety Shield technologies.
